桐壺2： はじめよりわれは、と思いあがり給へる御かたがた、めざましきものに、おとしめそねみ給う。
入内(じゅだい)当初から「自分こそは」と気負っておいでになる女御の方々から見れば、自分をさしおいて桐壺の更衣ごときが帝の寵愛を受けるなど目障りでけしからん話ゆえ、桐壺の更衣のことをあしざまに罵りねたむのである。
N君：女性の妬みそねみ、というのは平安の昔から話のタネになったのですね。
Nyogoes who had proudly thought themselves to be deserving of the highest class since they entered the Palace, cast envious glances at her, because it was inexcusable that a lady in a low class like her possessed the Emperor's love exclusively.
S先生：女御Nyogo の複数形として Nyogoes と書いたのでしょうが、「日本語は複数形をとらない」のでここは Those Nyogo としてください。あと、最後のほうで a lady in a low class とありますが、in でもよいかもしれないが of もあります。全体的には良い出来で、be deserving of ~ や cast a glance at ~ など適切に使われています。exclusively は気持ちは分かりますが、実際適切かどうか、、、。
Since Nyogo were supposed to be daughters of members of the Imperial Family or Ministers and Kohi were daughters of aristocrats below "Dainagon," those ladies of high rank did not stop speaking ill of Kiritsubo no Kohi, envious of her for being loved more tenderly by the Emperor than anybody else.
N君：Kohi were の後には supposed to be が隠れているのかもしれない、と思いながら読みました。speak ill of ~ も押さえておきたいと思います。
