長恨歌 その41： 上窮碧落下黄泉 両処茫茫皆不見
上は碧落をきわめ下は黄泉、両処茫々として皆見えず。
上は青空の果てまで下は黄泉の国まで探し求めたが、どちらも限りなく広がっているばかりで、彼女の魂は見つからない。
N君：「上は～から下は～まで」をどう表現するかがキモと見た。

S先生：down の前の to を除外した方がスッキリすると思います。N君は from A to B を基本形にして、A を up to A に変え、B を down to B に変化させたのでしょう。考え方は良いと思います。でもここは to down to より down to のほうが良いでしょう。
