桐壺173：さぶらひにまかで給ひて、人々おほみきなど参るほど、みこたちの御座のすゑに、源氏つき給へり。
いったん控えの間に下がって後、参列の人々がお酒を頂戴する段になって、源氏は親王がたの御座の末に着座した。
N君：Going out from the place to the resting room, Genji showed up again and took his seat located at the end of the row of Princes, when the attendants were to have celebratory drinks.
S先生：「お祝いの酒」ですが celebrating drinks が良いでしょう。drinks は sake でも良いです。控えの間に下がったのは源氏だけなのか、それとも源氏を含めた親王がたなのか、分からないのですが私は後者をとりました。
After they withdrew to the anteroom, those present were permitted to drink sake. Genji took the lowest seat among the Prince's.
N君：辞書によると ante は「分担金、先の、前の」のような意味で anteroom「控室」となるそうです。those present は第227回にも出て来た言い方で「後置修飾の形容詞」という理解でよかったと思います。最後のところの Prince's に注意したい。ついつい Princes としてしまいそうです。ここは「親王たちの席」を意味しているのでアポストロフィーが要りますね。
