桐壺76：(命婦)「鈴虫の声の限りを尽くしても 長き夜明かずふる涙かな」えも乗りやらず。
「鈴虫もあのように鳴いております。それにつられて私も声の限りに泣いて、秋の夜長を泣き尽してもなお涙が尽きません。」と命婦は詠んで車にも乗り込めない。
N君：Yugei-no-Myoubu composed an improvisational poem as follows : "Tempted by insects chirping in the garden, I, too, have cried and cried. No matter how long I have cried this autumn evening, my tears have not run out yet." Out of the sorrow of parting, she hesitated to ride on her vehicle.
S先生：第1文の improvisation「即興」→ improvisational は間違いではないが長すぎて重いので improvised にしましょう。第3文の No matter how+形容詞or副詞+SV「どんなに～しても」はここでは適切でした。第4文の out of はおなじみのやつで動機を表していて「別れの悲しみから、命婦は牛車に乗り込むのをためらった」となります。
Myoubu chanted a poem of her own improvising at the side of her carriage : "The crickets are chirping ceaselessly. To their chirps, I am crying and crying at the top of my voice. But however long I cry this long autumn night, my tears never stop running." After chanting the poem, she still was unable to ride on her carriage.
私の第1文の of one's own ~ing「自分で～した」は時々見る言い方でたとえば、This is a picture of his own painting.「彼が自分で描いた絵」となります。第3文の to は「～に合わせて」の意で、She danced to my piano. のように使います。第4文の however はN君の no matter how と同じですね。
