桐壺60：(手紙に添えられた帝の歌)「みやぎ野の露ふきすさぶ風の音に 小萩がもとを思ひこそやれ」とあれど、え見給ひはてず。
帝からの手紙には「御所を吹き抜ける秋風の音を聞くと小萩の枝が折れるんじゃないかと心配だが、それと同じように母君の里にいる若宮がどうしているか思いやられる」という歌も添えられていたが、母君は涙が溢れてこの歌を最後まで読み終えることが出来なかった。

S先生：Just as SV, so SV「ちょうど～のように、～だ」はとても利用価値が高いので是非自分のものにしましょう。始めの節にある may は might にすると「ひょっとして」の感じが出るので might のほうが良いでしょう。後の節に出て来る形容詞 vulnerable は「弱点があって傷つき易い、攻撃され易い」の意でこれも非常に使いでがあるので使い慣れてほしい単語です。最後の「付帯状況の with」は filled with tears の with と重なってしまうので、いっそのこと with を除外して , her eyes filled with tears. として独立分詞構文にしてしまう手もあります。
A poem was appended to the letter : "When I hear an autumn wind blowing through the Palace, I am forced to be worried that the flowers of the little hagi might be damaged. At the same time I fear for my little boy's safety." Though the old lady was reading it with a firm mind, the tears prevented her from keeping on reading to the last.
